Where: Dallas Center for Architecture, 1909 Woodall Rodgers Fwy., Suite 100, Dallas, TX 75201
Cost: Free and open to the public
What: The exhibition will examine Ju-Nel Homes architecture in the context of other mid-century
modern architecture in Dallas and elsewhere. The show will include original Ju-Nel Homes
drawings and blueprints, photos of the architects and homes, period advertisements and artifacts
drawn from the personal collections of the Ju-Nel architects’ family, employees and homeowners.

Cost: Donations requested, which benefit Hexter Elementary
What: Private viewing of exhibition and light refreshments provided by Darrie Hinson, Catering &
Company will be 6-7 p.m. Moderated panel of Ju-Nel experts will discuss the period, the
architecture and the personalities behind Ju-Nel Homes from 7-8 p.m. Panelists include Wilson’s
daughters, wife Nelda (one of Ju-Nel’s namesakes) and office manager, in addition to Vel Hawes,
FAIA and Texas AIA’s 2008 Lifetime Achievement award winner and thirty-seven-year resident
of a Ju-Nel Home. The moderator is Donald Gatzke, AIA, Dean of the School of Architecture at
the University of Texas at Arlington.

5th Annual Advocate Magazines White Rock Home Tour

Cost: $10 in advance at White Rock Coffee, GreenSpot and neighboring Tom Thumb locations. Or, $15 during the tour at any tour-home.
What: Tours with remarks by docents at five modern homes: four mid-century modern homes (including two Ju-Nel Homes) and one “green home” in honor of concurrent Earth Day. The green home is designed and built by Alan Hoffmann who was designated by the City of Dallas and D Home magazine as a green leader in this city. Two of Hoffmann’s homes were the first LEED-certified homes in Dallas. Visitors can meet-and-greet Hoffmann in the home he designed at designated times.
