Dear Volunteers and Runners,
Wow! The Hexter Howl 2009 was a complete success, even the weather decided to cooperate. It's beautiful what can happen when we all work together for a cause. What a privlelege to be part of this East Dallas community. Click here for this year's detailed race results.
Thank you again for making the third annual Hexter Howl 5k and 1k a huge success.

Hexter maintains a strong literacy program by using district provided reading materials and text, coupled with many leveled supplemental Literacy Library materials. With additional funding donated by the PTA, we annually update our fully stocked Literacy Library. The Literacy Library is different from the regular library in that it provides instructional materials that are leveled according to student’s individual reading needs. Research supports that this individualized approach is most effective as it allows teachers to differentiate and challenge students at multiple levels within the same classroom. Resources are used before, during and after school and include class sets of novels, multiple copies of level texts, diagnostic assessment materials, nonfiction texts to reinforce science and social studies needs, and books on tape. Also included in our supplemental literacy materials are computer programs that aim at increasing fluency and comprehension.
