The Hexter Elementary Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is an active and growing organization. Of teachers and administrators, 100 percent are dues-paying members. In addition to raising funds to enhance education at Hexter, the PTA is extending its role to include outreach and education programs for Hexter families.

Hexter Howl
The annual Hexter Howl 5k, Fun Run, and Carnival is a community event held each fall just before Halloween. The carnival features a giant slide, bounce houses, a rock wall tower, carnival booths, clowns, a petting zoo, great food and music. Carnival proceeds benefit Hexter Elementary. New in 2007, the 5K and Fun Run was initiated to promote fun and health awareness. The 2007 race benefits the Hexter Literacy Library. Both routes start and finish at Hexter Elementary through the streets in the Old Lake Highlands neighborhood, where the school is located.

White Rock Art Festival & Silent Auction
Hexter Elementary PTA is proud to continue our commitment to support the school in enriching our children's environment and education. Originally started in 2002 to support and maintain the arts programs, the White Rock Art Festival now helps fund a wider variety of projects and programs for the students, faculty and staff of Hexter.
The collection of handcrafted artwork available at the Art Festival represents the works of over 60 artists. Original paintings, prints, jewelry, metalwork, pottery, glasswork and more will be on display and available for purchase during the two day Festival. Also available will be gift collections including bags, cards, apothecary and gourmet food items. Again this year, we're happy to welcome back unique artwork from our own Hexter students!
The Silent Auction is another great opportunity to purchase showcase art pieces, valuable gift certificates, jewelry, home décor and one-of-a-kind student pieces at a great value! Each artist represented at the Festival has donated a special piece of their work for the auction (all with minimum values of $50). Businesses from all over the Metroplex and even other parts of Texas have donated gift and decorative items, spa and health products, clothing, jewelry and even tableware, in addition to thousands of dollars in gift certificates for a wide variety of services, dining and entertainment.

White Rock Home Tour
The White Rock Home Tour is the spring PTA fundraising event.
The home tour is the area’s only tour to exclusively feature mid-century modern homes. Held on Earth Day weekend each April, the tour features five homes in the White Rock area.

Join, Volunteer, or Donate!
Volunteers make a significant difference for Hexter Elementary School, and we are always looking for more. We have plenty of opportunities for individuals to support the PTA and Hexter in ways that match their availability and talents. Even an hour of support makes a difference. To join the PTA, contact Bernadette Nutall, vice president-membership through the school office at (972)502-5800. For information about volunteering for the PTA, contact DeAnn Stewart, vice president-vounteers at kat_stew@sbcglobal.net or call the school at (972) 502-5800.
Before working directly with students, all volunteers are required to register with DISD and pass a background check. To register online, go to http://www.dallasisd.org/partners/volreg_form.cfm.
When you volunteer at Hexter, please record your hours in the volunteer notebook in the school office. Volunteer hours directly reflect the community’s involvement and commitment to supporting schools!
